Buying Shoes Online - The Benefits
February 29, 2008
I love to buy shoes but I hate to shop for them.
Driving and walking from store to store can be exhausting. In fact, most neighborhood shoe stores carry limited styles, fashions and sizes, so I often come home tired, discouraged and empty handed.
So it’s no wonder that the internet has become my choice for shoe shopping. Try finding a size 10, double narrow pink pump with a 2 inch heel at your local shoe store. You may have to shop around awhile.
On the other hand, a few keystrokes on your computer will find your desired item and find you the best price. And, of course, it so much easier to let my fingers do the shopping than my poor tired feet.
Shoes may not be something you would consider buying online as most people like to ‘try on’ their shoes, and yes, that’s a big benefit to shopping in stores, but online shoe stores have worked hard to make your shoe shopping experience as easy and pleasant as possible.
Here’s some of the benefits:
Making Sense of the Natural vs Synthetic Debate: Acceptability of Synthetic Ingredients in Cosmetic
February 29, 2008
Ideas and perspectives as to what constitutes a natural product vary. Is bread natural? Is fruit natural? What about soap? Or nail polish? What criteria can an interested consumer use to distinguish between a natural or synthetic product? The answer is not as clear as some would have you believe. The world around us is composed of atoms, molecules, compounds and chemicals. We manipulate the natural world around us so that new substances can serve our needs in ways not even imagined fifty years ago. This article will clarify what is natural and what is synthetic, followed by a discussion of how we should view synthetics and their implications in our daily use of cosmetics and personal care products.
What is Natural?
Nature is composed of physical, chemical and biological elements, principles and laws which govern the known and unknown world and universe. The term ‘natural’ is used to describe a substance or condition which is:
- in harmony with nature
- belonging or connected to nature
- derived or obtained from nature
Natural Beauty: What Is It Really?
February 28, 2008
Natural beauty is the ideal many people strive to achieve when they purchase make-up, creams, shampoos and other forms of cosmetics. But what really constitutes natural beauty, and how can it be achieved?
Many consumers, in an attempt to cleanse, tone, moisturize, mattify, shine, colour, enhance and so on, have overloaded their skin and their cabinets with too many needless products. Experts have found that 63 percent of all women complain of having developed ’sensitive skin’, and many of these complaints can be traced back to an overcomplicated skin care regimen (Fairley, 2001). In contrast, the needs of human skin are simple. They are cleansing, moisture, nourishment and protection. Skin which suffers from burning, reddening, pimples, rashes and other symptoms similar to these may be caused by or made worse from adverse reactions to the cosmetic products overloading many women’s cabinets. Often many of these products claim to alleviate or eliminate the very symptoms they are causing (Begoun, 1991).
When selecting skin care, it is best to choose a product formulated for your skin type. Everyone’s skin is individual and varied, but to assist in product selection, and in understanding what your own skin needs, the following skin types have been generalized.
Eczema: Getting the Facts
February 27, 2008
People from all walks of life and all ages live with eczema; however, it typically appears in infants. Also called contact dermatitis, eczema is actually a group of skin conditions. Although it may sometimes look like a contagious condition, eczema is not contagious.
Symptoms related to eczema depend on the causes and severity of the form of eczema. A person with mild eczema has dry, hot, and itchy skin. Severe eczema causes the skin to crack, bleed, and often takes a long time to heal. Inflammation in the area is common depending on the type of eczema.

Detoxification and your skin
February 25, 2008
Learn to help your body glow from the inside out. Nourish it with foods that are pure and natural. Remove harmful substances from your diet and you will notice a difference in the way you look and feel.
What is detoxification?
Detoxification is the process of removing toxins or poisons. We all know that toxins are harmful and cause damage, potentially even death if taken in certain levels. Living cells, whether in plants or in the body, are constantly in the process of bringing nutrients and fresh substrates in while eliminating by-products and waste that is not useful to the organism. Therefore, detoxification is a natural, ongoing process in our bodies.
Keeping your body healthy requires maintaining all of its systems in good working order. Minimizing the amount of toxins you take into your system is one way that we can detoxify our bodies. Benefits of detoxification may include increased energy and improved health, better breath, reduced allergies, and potentially fewer aches and pains.
Wastes leave the body in the form of gases, solids, and liquids. Carbon dioxide is the gas that we exhale. We excrete other waste from the body after it accumulates in the bladder and in the bowels.
A Beautiful Skin is Every Man and Womans Dream!
February 24, 2008
She was so upset that day. She could not concentrate on her work in office. Her friends started asking her what happened to her. Anything amiss? They wondered.
It was a conversation during breakfast when her husband remarked "Honey, my friend introduced his wife yesterday." "How does she look?" "She is slim and a bit fairer than you." Now she has started pondering on how can she can make her skin fairer and make it glow.
Beauty is an obsession of women of all ages for many centuries but how many women realise that beauty is skin deep?. External beauty does matter but the beauty of the inner soul obtains that extra glow in the skin. A not-so-looking-good violin produces wonderful music than a flashy new violin. Similar is the case of a beautiful woman who looks extremely beautiful with a make over.
Not all know that women who participate in beauty pageants have to pamper themselves for many number of days with creams and lotions and also be strict on diet and live on warm water and lemon juice most of the time. The make-up artists do an excellent work on the faces of the contestants by carving and chiseling a work of art on their faces to make their skin glow. But only when the show is over, and the artificial "everything" is removed from them do they realise how naturally beautiful they are.
Colours of Contact Lenses
February 24, 2008
Colours of Contact Lenses - Get Lost in those Purple(?) Eyes
Nowadays, there are many colours of contact lenses available to suit your every mood.
If you only want a slight eye color change, then contact lens colours generally fall under two categories: opaque contacts (for darker eyes) and enhancer contacts (for light eyes).
However, if you want a change that will cause heads to turn your way, go for wild colors that introduce a hint of green, purple or even yellow in your eyes.
Colored Contact Lenses - Taking the Boredom Out of your Contacts
A subtle color shading in your lenses can drastically change your appearance.
So if you want to try something new or are simply bored with the contacts you are wearing now then start looking for the colored pair that suits you.
Online sites can really be a big help in deciding which colored lens to choose.
For instance, if you are unsure of the color that would best suit your natural eye color, many contact lens websites have an online eye color palette you can use.
SPF? What Does It All Mean?
February 23, 2008
Spf or sun protection factor, is the amount of increased protection a sunscreen provides. If you are like most people, you will begin burning after 15 minutes without protection. An SPF helps protect against sunburn, and does not “stop” the tanning process completely!!! It’s the burning that you want to omit, that is what causes skin damage! it’s not the tan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Determine your protected sunning time by multiplying the SPF number by the amount of time it normally takes you to show signs of burning if unprotected.
For example: Spf 8: 8 x 15 = 2 hours of increased protection.
Spf 15: 15 x 15 = 3 3/4 hours protection.
If you burn in 5 minutes (usually very sensitive skin) with an spf 15: 15 x 5 = l h 15 increased protection.
Most common sunscreen ingredients are: titanium dioxide, zinc oxide and avobenzone (also called parsol 1789) and butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane.
Avobenzone (also called Parsol) is less pore clogging than titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, but some people do experience irritation (rash or little red bumps) from avobenzone. Titanium Dioxide and Zinc oxide are natural products but can be more pore clogging as they sit on the skin’s surface and deflect back the UV rays, rather than absorbing into the dead layer of the epidermis.
Unique Fun Contact Lenses - How To Stand Out In A Crowd
February 22, 2008
Unique fun contact lenses are what will make you stand out from your friends. Since special effects contact lenses are created for cosmetic purposes, they come with a power of 0.00, which means that they make no correction for your eyes. This in turn means that anyone can wear them. So, if you need something for a party, the night club, or just to scare your kid’s friends, then there is something available for you.
Probably the most common contacts to be classed as unique fun contact lenses are those that just change the color of your eyes. Having striking blue eyes when they used to be brown can have a pretty dramatic effect, especially on those that know you. And vica versa, having say green eyes and suddenly turning up in cool smoldering browns will certainly get people talking! And even if you don’t know the people you are with, say at a nightclub, who can resist baby blues?
But maybe, you are a little more reckless, a little more adventurous than that? Well, how about cats eye contact lenses? Imagine talking to someone you had not met before in a bar, and they raised their eyelids to reveal a feline gaze? Wow! Maybe not everyone’s cup of tea, but you can see the impact that you could have.
