The Ultimate Beauty Tip: Good Posture
October 13, 2007
When you think of projecting a professional image, do you consider your posture? Most people don’t think of it, but the way we stand, sit, and move affects just how professional we look. So, if we take the time to wear the clothing that best suits us, get the most flattering hairstyle and perfect our makeup, then it would make sense that we wouldn’t want to ruin our look by having poor posture. And that’s what poor posture will do ? it will ruin an otherwise professional look.
There are other advantages to having good posture:
1. Good posture will boost self-confidence. Try this: take a deep breath and stand straight. Do you feel better? More confident?
2. Good posture opens your diaphragm making your voice sound better.
3. It improves your health by allowing your organs to function more easily.
4. It also makes you look slimmer, younger and your clothes look better.
To know if you have good posture stand sideways in front of a full-length mirror and stand as you do naturally. Is your:
* Neck straight
* Shoulders square
* Tummy in
* Feet pointing forward

5 Tips to Enjoying Your Day Spa Visit
October 12, 2007
There’s just something about walking into a day spa, isn’t there? It’s a haven from your hectic every day life, an oasis that lets you do something just for you. That massage or body treatment feels like a guilty indulgence, even though it’s probably necessary for your sanity!
Whether you’re visiting a day spa for the first time or the fiftieth, these tips will help you get the most out of your massage, body wrap, aromatherapy, etc.
1. Remember when Mom told you not to swim for an hour after eating? Well, the same holds true for spa visits. Don’t eat for at least an hour before a massage or body treatment.
2. Arrive 30 minutes early. If you’re worried about being late, tapping your foot waiting for the elevator and rushing to the receptionist desk, you won’t get nearly as much out of your visit.
3. RELAX! I know, that’s how you’re supposed to feel after you’re done. If you can take a few deep breaths before your treatment (in the waiting room, since you’re early, right?), your experience will be that much more rewarding.
4. Drink LOTS of water before and after. Water enhances the detoxifying and rehydrating benefits.
EDT, EDP, EDC? The Various Types Cologne And Perfume
October 11, 2007
Not all cologne and perfume is made equally. In fact there are four different concentrations of perfume, each one being very different from the other.
In this article I am going to discuss the four different variations of cologne as well as what each concentration may be used for.
Did you know that most cologne’s and perfumes are comprised mainly of alcohol? In fact, most of the fragrances that you see in any shop will only be comprised of 4-10% of actual scented compounds. Of course this varies depending on the perfume that you look at. The rest of the 86-90% of the bottle is made up of alcohol and water.
Some fragrances actually have a lower concentration of scented compounds, and some have more. This is where the commonly used EDP, EDT, and EDC come into play. Let’s take a look at what these mean.
Perfume ? Also known as Perfume extract, ‘Perfume’ is the most concentrated and smoothest of the four types. Typically made up of a 20-40% concentration of scented compounds, perfume is definitely the most expensive to buy.
Beauty Tips
October 10, 2007
1. Your foundation will look only as good as the skin underneath. To get an even, smooth look, cleanse and exfoliate regularly.
2. If you have sensitive skin and are prone to allergic reactions make sure you test new cosmetics on a small patch either on the inside of your arm or your neck. If after 24 hours you don’t have a reaction it is safe to use the product.
3. If you have acne or find you cannot use any skin care products without getting an allergic reaction or dry itchy skin, make an appointment with a dermatologist.
4. Use mascara sparingly. Using too much will make your eyelashes stick together and form into blobs. Dip your brush only once to do both eyes making sure you twist, not pump the brush.
5. No matter how tempting it might be to drop into bed after being out late, don’t do it. Your skin will thank you if you remove all traces of makeup and apply your skin care cream before going to bed.
6. Take care of the skin around your neck as well as your face by applying moisturizer. This is a delicate area which is quick to show wrinkles.
How to Choose a Comfortable Pair of Shoes
October 9, 2007
You’ve finally worn out those comfortable old shoes that you have been wearing for years. Finding a good pair of shoes is a bit like trying to find the perfect spouse; it takes a lot of looking around to find the perfect match. But shopping for shoes should not be a stressful experience. Here is a brief guide to help you find that perfect pair.
The first thing you need to decide on is your budget, as this will limit which brands and perhaps styles, you can buy. Many discount footwear stores have great sales, sometimes giving you up to 80% off the original price or even running two for the price of one sales. So, if you see sales like these, take advantage of them!
Once you’ve decided on your budget, you should think about what type of shoe you want to buy. Do you plan on being on your feet a lot? Do you want you shoes to be a fashion statement, or are you more of a ’sensible shoe’ type of person? They are many new hot fashions this summer, ranging from dainty sandals to towering stilettos. While a pair of cute high heels may match your new skirt perfectly, they may not be right for you if you are going to on your feet, running around all day. So, make sure that you put some thought into where- and how long- you will be wearing them.
Do-It-Yourself Manicure
October 8, 2007
Your hands are as obvious as any part of your body; you use them to emphasize points in a conversation and to do daily tasks, therefore they should look as well groomed as the rest of you. A good manicure is important to your appearance. Whether or not you use polish, your nails should be conservative, healthy, and always well manicured. To keep your hands attractive give yourself a weekly manicure.
Set aside about a half hour and have the following items before you start: emery board, cuticle scissors, nail buffer, a bowl of warm water, polish remover, nail brush, orangewood stick, cotton balls, base coat or nail hardener, nail polish and top coat.
1. Remove old polish with a cotton ball dampened with nail polish remover. Press the cotton ball firmly to the nail and hold until for a few seconds. Pull the cotton ball down the centre so the polish doesn’t smear on the skin around the nail. Use a clean cotton ball to remove any stubborn polish.
2. Holding it on a slant, use an emery board to shape nails. Use long strokes in one direction toward the centre of the nail (don’t go back and forth). Don’t file the nails away at the corners because it weakens the nails. Make the curve blunt and don’t file your nails into sharp points.
Finding And Choosing A Quality Online Cologne Shop - A Guide For Cheap Cologne
October 7, 2007
With men’s and women’s perfume being so expensive in the offline world, many people are now turning to the internet for their fragrance needs. Certain things should be looked at though before making a discount purchase.
In this article I will discuss what to look out for when buying cologne online, as well as a few good places to start your search.
Go to a perfume shop online and I will bet you they have the phrase "best prices" emblazoned somewhere on their homepage. The fact is that a lot of these shops claim that they have the best prices, but this is simply not true. So how do you know you are getting the best price when you make a purchase? Simple? ask them if they have a price match guarantee. They may say that they do somewhere on the site, but if not, send them an e-mail.
Many of the top online cologne shops do have price match guarantees, so make sure and use them.
Price isn’t the only factor involved in buying discount fragrances. Does the site look reputable? Do they have any customer testimonials? How long have they been selling online? All of these points should be looked at when choosing a store to do business with.
Tattoos; Not Just for Drunken Sailors
October 7, 2007
Tattoos are not new. They have been around longer then recorded history. It just seems I have been noticing them a lot more lately. I don’t know if that was because I started to take an interest or there are a lot more people getting them.
Before I decided to get my tattoo, I did some home work. I don’t come from a background of drunken sailors, so my only thoughts were those dark and dingy, back alley shops you see on late night TV. As most of you reading this can guess, I was wrong. There are clean and reputable tattoo shops even in my town. Some of these tattoo shop are even open during the day light.
I did a lot of internet searching and have learned a lot about tattoos and tattoo shops. Mostly I learned not to prejudge. But some of the things I learned I thought would be worth passing on to my kids and to whoever is deciding to get a tattoo.
Tattoos can put you at risk for contacting many diseases, such as HIV, Hepatitis and even tuberculosis. Tattoos can bring on skin infections such as impetigo, dermatitis and possibly an allergic reaction to the tattoo pigment. To minimize the risk you really need to follow a couple of common sense rules when seeking out a tattoo shop.
