Safety Glasses Can Be Fashionable
April 30, 2007
Safety glasses have evolved from the days of poorly fitting plastic protection we used to put on our eyes. Today, we expect more from eyewear and eyeglass manufacturers and the same is true for the companies that produce glasses for safety. It’s not enough for protective or safety eyewear to be of tempered glass or plastic, having temple and side shields for maximum coverage. These safety eyeglasses must be stylish, well fitting, and come in different colors too. Employees all over the world actually enjoy wearing their protective glasses making it a win win for everyone.
If you are an employer looking for top quality protective safety glasses, or a weekend warrior remodeling your home, you can find a large selection of styles on the internet. Many home improvement centers also carry styles of safety glasses, but they will be a more one size fits all basic style. They are a larger style and usually fit over your existing eyeglass frames. These work, however, they can fog easily. It has never been easier to find what you are looking for by the click of a mouse. If your employees like how they look and feel in their protective glasses, they will find themselves not wanting to take them off ? making it safer for everyone.
What Are Pigtails?
April 30, 2007
There really isn’t a huge debate on this subject, but there are some differences of opinion. This article looks at some of the differing opinions related to pigtails hairstyle definition, attempts to find some middle ground (perhaps unsuccessfully), and closes with this author’s own definition and description of the ideal pigtails.
A ponytail is when the hair is tied together into a bunch and hanging from the back of the head. Most would agree on that. But if that ponytail is braided, is it still a ponytail? Some say it is, others say that this is called a braid. The same question applies to pigtails, the most common term for the gathering of the hair into twin ponytails (one on either side of the head). Can pigtails be braided and still be called pigtails? Do the terms “braided pigtails” and “unbraided pigtails” make sense? Some argue that “braided pigtails” are just “braids” and not pigtails at all!
Deep Vein Thrombosis…an In Flight Risk

DVT?an in flight riskby Cathy Gatson
Planning to do some long distance traveling this summer be it train, plane or automobile?here is some important information to pack with you to avoid this trip from being your last leg.
WHAT IS IT?DVT or Deep Vein Thrombosis is a blood clot that develops in the deep vein of the leg. The Deep Vein in the leg passes through the center of the leg and is surrounded by muscle. Superficial veins are on top of the muscle and are visible to the eye.
DVT’s usually occur in the lower leg between the ankle and the knee areas. DVT’s are serious and can be fatal. Once a blood clot occurs, it can travel through the veins and get lodged in the lungs or heart resulting in death.
Since DVT can develop very rapidly, symptoms, if any may be difficult to detect. In fact, an estimated 50% of reported DVT incidents went undetected. However, seek medical advice if during or after a flight you experience:ˇ Pain and warmth in the lower legsˇ Prickly sensation in the legsˇ Warmness or swelling of the feet or legsˇ Shortness of breathˇ Noticeable pain in the lower legs that worsens when walking or standing

A guide to toning up flabby arms
by Cathy GatsonWith Spring in the air and Summer just around the corner?it will soon be time to “change clothes and go”?sleeveless. If you’ve been shopping lately, you may have noticed many of the blouses, tops and dresses for Spring/Summer are haltered, strapless, or sleeveless, exposing lots of skin. The styles are sexy but flabby arms are not. If the backs of your arms are waving in the wind, then here are the most recommended and easiest exercises that I’ve found to improve muscle tone to your arms, shoulders and chest just in time for Spring.
The muscles you want to target are:Biceps - located at the top of your upper arm. Clench your fist and make a muscle, the bump that should appear is your bicep.Triceps - located at the back and below your upper arm.Pectoralis Major & Minor - chest muscles
Living Water

A wellness of beauty for mind, body & spiritby Cathy Gatson
“When the well is dry, then we know the worth of water”, unfortunately manyof us take it for granted. The significance of water is so much deeper than drinking 8 to 10 glasses perday. Although vitally important; water quenches more than just our physical thirst?
Mind/SpiritWade in the water?. Just as water is significant in baptism because it symbolizes the cleansing away of our sins and the renewing of our spirit, biblically water is a reminder that when our spirit is dehydrated we can go to God’s well and refill our cup over and over again. (John 4:7-14& 7:38). Water represents the tranquility and serenity that is necessary to reflect, renew and seek peace of mind.
Eye Spy - In Search of a Greater Lash
April 25, 2007
Shopping for mascara can be an “eye opening” experience. Who knew there were so many formulas to choose from? Thickening, lengthening, volumizing, maximizing and separating, only to name a few; it’s no wonder a tube of “Maybelline Great Lash” is being sold somewhere in the world every 1.5 seconds. It’s bright pink and green tube stands out from all the rest, saving us from the myriad of eye lash options, without batting an eye many of us grab the familiar and alas another sale for Great Lash the best selling mascara for 33 years. I do own a tube I admit but because I read it was a “must have”, plus it adds a little color to my make up bag.
In search of a greater lash I secretly spied into the makeup bags of my most well painted friends, casually slipped in “so what mascara do you use” to unsuspecting co-workers, and polled long lashed strangers to uncover their mascara of choice. To my surprise, friends and strangers alike were wide eyed and bushy tailed to share the secrets of their lash life. So if you’re interested in peaking into what’s keeping these women’s eyes wide open? read ‘em and wink:
Fashion Tip: Dont Make These Fashion Mistakes
April 25, 2007
1. Wearing the Wrong Colors
To look your best wear clothing colors that will complement your skin. Wearing the wrong colors will make your skin appear sallow and lines and wrinkles will be more evident. The right colors will make you look more vibrant and healthy.
2. Wearing too much makeup
Too much makeup will make lines appear deeper and will create a harsh look. Keep makeup light for day and a little darker for evening. See a professional if you are unsure of makeup application techniques.
3. Wearing Clothes that are too small
Wearing clothes that fit too tightly will make you appear larger. Wearing clothes that do not suit your body type will make you appear larger. Buy clothes that suit your body type - not someone else’s.
4. Chipped nail polish
The idea of nail polish is to make your nails appear nicer. Chipped polish just brings attention to poor grooming.
5. An old-fashioned hairstyle or messy hair
Your hairstyle creates a first impression. From your hairstyle people will assume your education level, status, age etc. This doesn’t mean the judgments are correct ? they happen instinctively. Make sure it doesn’t happen to you. Visit your hairstylist regularly.
The Eyes Have It
April 24, 2007
Did you know Leonardo da Vinci sketched and described several forms of contact lenses in 1508, and in 1632 Rene Descartes suggested the possibility of a corneal contact lens? Civilization has come a long way from these early ideas to the high-tech advancements we have to care for our eyes today. We even have choices for improved vision other than through a contact lens or eyeglasses. LASIK surgical procedures are done on the eye and intended to reduce dependency on eyeglasses. It doesn’t promise perfect vision, but it offers convenient benefits to people that don’t want to put on glasses.
Millions of people are using gas permeable rigid contact lenses, extended wear, soft-lens, bifocal vision, a whole rainbow of color contacts, no-fuss disposables, and lenses that protect from UV rays. If eyeglasses are more your style, you have never had a bigger selection than what is on the market today. Make a bold statement with colors of eyeglass frames or let the frames blend into your face. I have four different colors of eyeglasses and I plan on buying more. If all of these options become tiresome, you might choose the LASIK surgery where your eye should become less dependent on glasses and you will have the convenience of not wearing anything on your face unless you want to. Wouldn’t it be nice to wake up in the morning and be able to see everything clearly without putting on glasses?
Handmade Soap Facts
April 23, 2007
How many people know what soap really is? Several of the cleansing bars that you buy at the store, for example, are detergents-and not soaps at all. They are called syndet bars, or synthetic detergent bars. They are made from synthesized chemicals and are usually much harsher than soap. Detergents contain petroleum distillates rather than oil. On the other hand, true soap is made from natural oils (such as olive, coconut and palm) and is a gentle cleansing product more appropriate for use on skin than is detergent.
Soaps, unlike detergents, are made by combining sodium hydroxide or lye, oils and water in a process known as “Saponification”. Some people may question the use of lye in handcrafted soap. The fact is that all soap is made with lye. What needs to be made clear is that once the process of saponification is complete, the lye and oil molecules have combined and chemically changed into soap and glycerin. There is no lye present in the finished bars of soap.
